The Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) was prepared by BHP Billiton Diamonds Inc. (now BHPB) to identify environmental impacts and measures to mitigate potentially adverse impacts stemming from the Ekati Diamond Mine.  BHP Billiton submitted the EIS to the federally appointed Environmental Assessment Review Panel in July 1995.

The EIS consists of four volumes describing the details of the project, the nature of the potential impacts of the project, the methods the company is to use to address and mitigate these impacts, as well as several appendices:
